Services are tailored to the individual seeking support. Traditional ‘talk’ therapy is often difficult for children and adolescents and even some adults with various developmental impairments. This is taken into consideration and often replaced with ‘hands on’ type activities and interventions. Integrating role plays, practice scenario’s, work sheets, games, and interactive activities into the therapy session.
It is imperative that what is learned in the session is generalized to the individual’s everyday life, therefore parent/ caregiver participation is an essential component to children and adolescent sessions. Likewise, some adults may invite a significant other or trusted one into sessions when they need assistance generalizing skills outside of the therapy session. This is invited and encouraged when appropriate per the individuals therapy goals.
